Web Services Invocation Framework: A Step towards Virtualizing Components
نویسندگان
چکیده
Initially, Web services had to do with communication between executables via ubiquitous Internet protocols and technologies. But in the meantime, Web services are used as virtualization layer for any kind of executables, both within an enterprise as well as across enterprises. As a consequence, any kind of protocol and communication technology must be supported to allow users to stay in the Web service paradigm when communicating with program functions. We introduce the Web Services Invocation Framework (WSIF) which provides a flexible runtime environment for the invocation of Web services. With a client interface that is independent from the actual invocation protocol, it supports an extensible set of protocol bindings, and performs the Web service invocation in a fully dynamic or completely compiled style. We describe the major properties of the architecture of WSIF, explain its extensibility concepts and describe its client programming model.

متن کاملTowards A Flexible Mediation Framework for Dynamic Service Invocations
One of the main benefits of service-based systems is the loose coupling of components, which allows for flexibility in the selection of internal and external business partners. However, currently this flexibility is severely limited by the fact that components have to provide not only the same functionality, but do so via virtually the same interface. Invocation-level mediation may be used to o...
متن کاملA Framework for Automating the Invocation of Web APIs
Web APIs, characterized by their relative simplicity and their natural suitability for the Web, have become increasingly dominant in the world of services on the Web. Despite their popularity, Web APIs are so heterogeneous in terms of the underlying principles adopted and the means used for publishing them that discovering, understanding and notably invoking Web APIs is nowadays more an art tha...
متن کاملWeb Services Invocation Framework (WSIF)
This paper proposes a framework that allows the application-programmer to program against an abstract service description, in a protocol-independent manner. We call this framework the Web Services Invocation Framework (WSIF). WSIF supplies a simple API to invoke Web Services, no matter how or where the service is provided, so long as the service is described in WSDL. WSIF enables the user to mo...
